JaVonna Reed Administrative Assistant Health Equity Office JaVonna Reed is currently, the administrative assistant for the Health Equity Office at the Tulsa Health Department. She is originally from Dallas, Texas though raised right here in North Tulsa. The development and the people in this community are her passion and are one of her many motivators for returning to school. JaVonna is currently enrolled at Tulsa Community College and her goal is to get her master’s degree in Social Work at OSU. She married her high school sweetheart in 2016 and together they own Reed Family Heating and Air Conditioning. Some of her hobbies include spending time with family and friends, traveling, doing laundry, and singing in her church choir. |
Robert Seals North Tulsa Forward Program (NTFP) Coordinator Robert Seals is a North Tulsa native born and raised. He attended Central High School but moved to Stillwater to finish high school. After high school Robert returned to Tulsa where he pursued an Associate degree in Accounting Technology and went on to attend Langston University-Tulsa where he majored in Business Administration for his Bachelor’s degree. Robert worked in banking as a Loan Operation Specialist for almost five years before he went on to become a Junior Accountant/Bookkeeper for the next three years. Before leaving his former employer Crossover Prep Academy he had formed a special bond with some of the young men who he mentors in his spare time. He believes that the youth are the future of tomorrow, so he tries to motivate and discourage the street life. Robert enjoys going to church on the weekends, hanging with friends and family, and watching his oldest son play sports. |
Anita Boykins Community Health Worker A tulsa native, Anita Boykins was born and raised in Oklahoma born at Muskogee General Hospital making her a true “Okie." Anita received her bachelor’s degree from OSU-Tulsa (Go Pokes!!!) from Spears School of Business in University Studies in 2020 and has an associate degree in social work for TCC. She has been a hairstylist for the last 23 years and looks forward to using her gift and passion for helping others. The goal of Anita's life is to uplift, motivate, inspire, and encourage the North Tulsa community to a better self. She enjoys cooking, traveling and all things arts & crafts. Anita is excited to see and be a part of the great things THD North Regional Health & Wellness Center is committed to by making North Tulsa thrive, whole and healthy. |
Anthony Carpenter Community Health Worker Anthony was born and raised in Tulsa, he graduated from Booker T. Washington high school. Anthony attended Northeastern State University where he received his bachelor's of science in Health and Human Performance. While in college Anthony worked as a patient transporter at Saint Francis Hospital and as a physical therapy technician at Redbud physical therapy. It was at these places the he was informed about the importance of managing and preventing chronic conditions. Anthony has a passion for health and wellness and wants to encourage people to be the healthiest version of themselves physically, mentally and spiritually. In his spare time Anthony enjoys reading, solving jigsaw puzzles or going to the gym. He is excited to get to be apart of team to help North Tulsa thrive. |
Stephenie Wimberly Communication Engagement Coordinator Stephenie holds a Bachelor of Science in Advertising and Public Relations from Oral Roberts University. While at ORU, Stephenie spent two summers in the Amazon jungle of Brazil as a missionary. She dreams of returning to Brazil long-term to raise up entrepreneurs who will challenge the economic status quo. Crazily enough, Stephenie hopes to attend graduate school to obtain her Master's in Biblical Exegesis or Global Leadership. Going back to school was, definitely, never a part of the plan for her life, but life is full of surprises. A Tulsa native, Stephenie loves using her creative abilities to amplify the voice of stories that have yet to be told. When Stephenie isn’t behind a desk, you can find her at the at the gym, cooking, relaxing in her hammock, or doing creative photoshoots with friends. |
Daquet Wilson Manager - Be Well Community Development Corporation (CDC) Daquet Wilson, recently promoted to Manager, Daquet brings to Be Well/Joyful Movement, and the Health Equity office over thirty years of experience in health and wellness, including a corporate background with major employers like YMCA, WorldCom, American Electric Power, Enterprise, and Airgas. Born and raised in North Tulsa, Daquet's connection to her community is more than a job; it's a personal mission to uplift herself, her family, her neighbors, and her community. She's a proud graduate of Booker T. Washington H.S. and Langston University, the state's only Historically Black College and University. A fitness enthusiast, Daquet has worked with the YMCA for over twenty-five years, leading group fitness classes, boot camps, iron-girl challenges, cycling, personal training, and more. She's a fixture in the Historic Greenwood area, often seen running, biking, or conducting outdoor fitness classes on sunny days. Daquet also loves to travel, exploring diverse cuisines from her trips around the world. Her transition from Corporate America to the Public Health sector is a perfect alignment of her passion for fitness and her love for North Tulsa. With her wealth of experience and boundless energy, she aims to encourage North Tulsa residents to get and stay active, ultimately closing the health and wellness gaps in the community. |
Kandy Whitley-White Director Health Equity Office Kandy Whitley-White is the Health Equity Director at the Tulsa Health Department, directing Be Well CDC, which focuses on eliminating health disparities in North Tulsa. Her primary goal is to address systemic barriers like racism, poverty, and ineffective policies that hinder people from achieving good health in Tulsa County. Previously, she worked as the Cross-Sector Facilitator for the TSET Healthy Living Program, collaborating with various partners to create programs focusing on tobacco use, physical activity, and nutrition. Originally from Tulsa, Kandy spent 15 years in Portland, Oregon, kickstarting her non-profit career and raising her family. Returning to Tulsa 14 years ago, she has been committed to serving marginalized communities, addressing systemic disparities, promoting civic engagement, and supporting economic development to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty. With over two decades of experience in community development and organizing, Kandy possesses a deep understanding of the essential elements needed to foster prosperity in North Tulsa and enhance community capacity for positive change. Her personal mission is to shift the focus from merely preventing negative outcomes to actively realizing the aspirations of the community. Kandy is a graduate of Thomas A. Edison High School and holds a BA in Organizational Communication from the University of Tulsa. |
