The aim of the North Tulsa Unity Book Club (UBC) is to create a space to bring all ages together, over great literature, in an effort to collaboratively increase literacy in the North Tulsa community through the expansion of personal and home literacy practices.

Our community outreach is focused on intergenerational collaboration for the goal of increasing literacy and access to educational materials for the North Tulsa community.

Join the Coalition Against Prescription and Substance Abuse of Tulsa (CAPSAT) at the Black Wall Street Liquid Lounge, 10 Greenwood Ave S 101, Tulsa, OK 74120, for an evening of powerful spoken word performances featuring local artist Kode Ransom, Phetote Mshairi and Shakera “Bambi” Simmons. Whether you’re a seasoned spoken word enthusiast or new to the scene, this free in-person event will give you the chance to share unspoken thoughts and let your imagination soar as words come to life on stage.

The Unspoken: A Spoken Word Event, is specifically dedicated to raising awareness about fentanyl, opioid, and stimulant overdose within the African American and BIPOC communities. The event will be a platform designed to shed light on a pressing issue plaguing our community while stimulating meaningful conversations and fostering much-needed support.

Writing prompts: Accidental overdose • Speak up • Stigma • Opioid and fentanyl overdose • Pills • Addiction • Loneliness • Life • Support • Absence • Prevention

If you would like to hear your story in someone else’s voice, please drop off your poetry at the venue by December 11th. The event is free to attend. Limited spots available.
