Community Advisory Council

Overview

Be Well Advisory Council provides residents and other stakeholders of Tulsa District 1 with an opportunity to:

  • Act as an advocate for citizens in promoting institutional and community changes to improve health and wellness
  • Help to identify community priorities and recommend specific action steps
  • Support the community development process
  • Assist with the evaluation of the implementation and achievement of Be Well’s organization’s goals
  • Help residents learn about programs and opportunities that could benefit them and provide information about initiatives
  • Promote neighborhood sustainability
  • Help identify funding opportunities and priorities
  • Engage collectively to address the social determinants of health and root causes of health disparities in north Tulsa District 1

Requirements

Advisory council members must:

  • Be full-time residents of District 1 or 
  • Have worked/worshiped in District 1 for a minimum of 12 months or
  • Be a community advocate with a demonstrated interest and investment in the community
  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • Complete an application and interview process (not all applicants will be selected)

Expectations

  • Council membership will include an application process and require written commitment
  • Advisory members shall serve a term of one (1) year to run between November-October.
  • Advisory council members participate in the identification, discussion, and ranking of issues of concern to the north Tulsa community
  • Advisory council members have no formal governance authority and are not financially responsible for the organization
