Blood at The Roots Issue of Health Equity: The New Civil Rights Movement

Be Well Community Development Corporation, supported by the Tulsa Health Department, is a 501 (c)(3) organization that engages the north Tulsa community and partners in attaining the full health potential for all in the community. Be Well CDC is hosting a Conference to further highlight systems-level changes required to birth opportunities for true health equity.  Blood at the Roots: Issues of Health Equity, the New Civil Rights Movement Conference will be in Tulsa over two days in April 11 & 12

We and our partners are excited to host experts from national and local levels to facilitate a forum that will:

1. Allow for cross-sector dialogue,
2. Capacity building, and
3. Facilitate access to tools and information that will assist attendees with developing strategies to strengthen efforts to create sustained changes in their communities.

Objectives:

1. Increase knowledge of systemic barriers and issues that cause inequity. 
2. Create opportunities for cross-sector dialogue leading to solutions that address the system issues and barriers of health equity;
3. Establish networking opportunities to build capacity among individuals and their agencies in an effort to strengthen solutions regarding health equity;
4. Provide access to resources and tools that will assist in the development of strategies leading to sustained changes in communities. 

Planned Conference Topics Include:

1. Why is the Education System Failing BIPOC Communities? Impact Now and in the Future. 
   
2. The Root Causes of Poor Health Outcomes for BIPOC Communities
3. Addressing Health Equity through Community Initiatives
4. A Criminal Justice System that is not “just”
